PHILIPPINES CONDUCTS ROADSHOW IN CONVENTIONAL ENERGY IN RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL
The Philippine Embassy and the Department of Energy (DOE) conducted a roadshow and participated in the American Association of Petroleum Geologists – International Conference Exhibition (AAPG-ICE) 2025 last 30 September-03 October 2025 at the Windsor Convention & Expo Center in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The activity is part of Brasilia PE and DOE’s continuing efforts under the Philippine Conventional Energy Contracting Program (PCECP), which is the Government’s transparent and competitive system of awarding Petroleum Service Contracts (PSCs) in the Philippines,
The AAPG-ICE 2025 serves as a gathering point for geoscientists, technology innovators, policy makers, technical experts, and industry leaders across the global energy sector to engage and collaborate in meaningful discussions and share insights on meeting energy demand while transitioning to a low carbon future. The DOE and the Embassy showcased the latest advancements in the Philippine petroleum sector, particularly on the development of the country’s indigenous oil, gas and native hydrogen resources, and highlighted a range of investment opportunities in the Philippines to foster collaboration and attract international energy companies to the country.
Aside from the Philippine Roadshow and attending the main meetings of the AAPG-ICE, PhilDel also held associated meetings with various stakeholders, particularly companies exploring investment opportunities in the Philippine petroleum sector, including oil, gas, and natural hydrogen.
Currently, the Philippines is targeting more than USD200 million in incoming investments under eight (8) petroleum service contracts to identify oil, gas, and hydrogen reserves in Palawan, Sulu, Cagayan, and Cebu. Under these contracts between the government and private companies, jobs will be created, and the country’s energy supply will be strengthened, thereby easing dependence on imported oil and helping the country’s transition to clean energy.
In addition to officers of the Embassy and DOE, representatives from the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy (MENRE) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao also formed part of PhilDel.
