BRASILIA, BRAZIL 02 JUNE 2021 - The Philippine Embassy in Brasilia Charge d’ affaires, ad interim Ms. Leilani S. Feliciano joined the ASEAN Heads of Diplomatic Missions under the ASEAN Committee in Brasilia (ACB) for a lunch hosted by newly-installed Brazilian Foreign Minister, H.E. Ambassador Carlos Alberto Franco Franca on 02 June 2021 at the Itamaraty Palace, Ministry of External Relations (MRE) of the Federative Government of Republic of Brazil.
H.E. Ambassador Marcia Donner Abreu, Secretary for Bilateral Negotiations in Asia, the Pacific and Russia (SARP) of the MRE joined the lunch along with several high-ranking officials of the Foreign Ministry led by Secretary Sarquis J.B. Sarquis of the MRE Secretariat for Foreign Trade and Economic Affairs and two Brazilian businessmen.
The following ASEAN Ambassadors and Charge d´ affaires, a.i. of ACB who joined the lunch were: 1) H.E. MRS. PHAM THI KIM HOA- (Chairperson, ASEAN Committee in Brasilia), Ambassador of Viet Nam; 2) H.E. MR. EDI YUSUP- (ACB Vice-Chairperson), Ambassador of Indonesia; 3) H.E. MR. LIM JUAY JIN, Ambassador of Malaysia; 4) H.E. MR. MYO TIN, Ambassador of Myanmar; 5) Hon. MS. LEILANI S. FELICIANO, Charge d’affaires, a.i. of the Philippines; 6) H.E. MR. DESMOND NG, Ambassador of Singapore; and 7) H.E. MS. NITIVADEE MANITKUL, Ambassador of Thailand. All ASEAN Heads of Missions gave Foreign Minister Franca gifts of appreciation.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Franca expressed the hope of promoting and strengthening the closer relations and cooperation of Brazil with ASEAN as an emerging bloc in Asia. He noted the big potentials for dialogue and forging of economic and socio-cultural cooperation between the Brazilian Government and ASEAN in the future.
In her capacity as the Chairperson of the ASEAN Committee in Brasilia (ACB), Vietnamese Ambassador Phan Thi Kim Phoa spoke for the group by conveying her appreciation for Minister Franca for agreeing to accommodate the seven ASEAN Heads of Diplomatic Missions in Brasilia under the ACB and for his support to the ACB. She expressed the desire for the enhancement of cooperation between ASEAN countries and Brazil through the holding of meetings, exchange of high-level visits of high-ranking officials and businessmen and formation of more cooperative programs in business, trade, tourism, and cultural pursuits.
