BRASILIA 12 JUNE 2021 – Philippine Embassy in Brasilia Charge d’ affaires, a.i. Leilani S. Feliciano led Brasilia PE officer and staff in the commemoration of the 123rd Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Philippine Independence with the holding of a Flag Raising Ceremony and Program on 12 June 2021.
The program started with the singing of the Philippine national anthem. Charge d’affaires, ad interim Leilani S. Feliciano led the flag raising and singing of the PH national anthem assisted by Consul General Ariz Severino V. Convalecer. Consul General Convalecer read the DFA’s Mission and Vision statement. Ms. Erika C. Limlengco, ATN and Consular Assistant, and Mr. Martin Vicencio, Cultural and Property Officer, read the Panunumpa and the Prayer, respectively.
To conclude the special commemorative cultural program, Charge d’affaires, ad interim Leilani S. Feliciano read of the Independence Day Messages of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and DFA Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr.
The Embassy personnel had a simple get together, while observing social distancing, with packed Filipino breakfast served after the event.
The second commemorative cultural activity shall be the online webinar entitled “Kalayaan: A webinar on the Philippine declaration of independence and related events” to be held on 13 June 2021, 10 AM, Brazil time. Dr. Arnel E. Joven, Chairperson of the History Department at the University of Asia & the Pacific, shall be the resource speaker and a keynote speech will be delivered by CDA Feliciano for the 13 June 2021 Webinar. The webinar will be done via Zoom and will be on delayed broadcast (by few minutes) on Post’s official website and official Facebook page. END
