BRASILIA, BRAZIL, 15 AUGUST 2021 – The Philippine Embassy in Brasilia, Brazil organized an online lecture/event for its Cultural Diplomacy activity entitled "Buwan Ng Wika: Demonstrasyon sa Pagsulat ng Kuwentong Pambata ni Dr. Joem Antonio" on 15 August 2021 with Dr. Joachim Emilio Antonio as the guest speaker. Dr. Antonio is a professor at University of Asia & the Pacific and is an 8-time palanca winning author. The online event was in line with the Embassy’s celebration of Buwan ng Wika.
In her speech, Charge d’affaires, ad interim, Leilani S. Feliciano welcomed the audience and informed them that the special writing demonstration/workshop was conducted in commemoration with the Philippine Government’s Buwan ng Wika in August. In accordance with Proclamation No. 1041 dated 15 January 1997 signed by former President Fidel Ramos, the Philippine Government created the Buwan ng Wika commemoration on August of each year. The Commission on the Filipino Language states that this year’s Buwan ng Wika has as its theme “Filipino at mga Katutubong Wika sa Dekolonisasyon ng Pag-iisip ng mga Pilipino.”

The main event featured Dr. Joachim Emilo Antonio conducting a demonstration of writing a children’s story in a form of a mini-workshop for those who were at the zoom meeting. Dr. Antonio asked suggestions from the audience such as what moral should the story teach the children down to the names of the characters that would be involved in such story.
Dr. Antonio answered some questions during the two question and answer portion of the event. Most questions were related on writing and publishing of children’s stories as well as writing stories in general.
The webinar was attended by the Filipino Community in Post’s jurisdiction as well as some attendees from the DFA Home Office, Indonesia, UAE, and residents from the Philippines. END
