The Office of His Most Reverend Excellency, Dom Giovanni d'Aniello, Apostolic Nuncio and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Brazil, in cooperation with the Embassy of Timor Leste in Brasilia, organized a Holy Mass for the victims of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) on November 28 at the chapel of the Nunciature.
Members of the diplomatic community, Brazilians and members of the Filipino community attended the special mass concelebrated by Monsignor Tomasz Krystof Grysa and Fr. José Carlos Brandi Aleixo.
At the end of the mass, Philippine Ambassador Eva G. Betita gave a speech thanking everyone for their words of sympathy and show of solidarity with the Filipino nation, especially those who came to the special mass to offer their prayers for the typhoon victims.
She likewise expressed profound thanks to the governments and international organizations, private institutions and individuals who have extended assistance to the victims through the Philippine Embassy in Brasilia.
The officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy rendered songs during the mass, including the Filipino song "Pananagutan" and "Lord, Heal our Land" popularized by Filipina singer Jamie Rivera.
