Philippine Embassy in Brasilia Resumes Overseas Voting Registration
The Philippine Embassy in Brasilia has resumed on 06 May 2014 the continuing registration/certification of qualified Filipinos for purposes of the 2016 National Election.
Filipino nationals in Brazil, particularly those from São Paulo and Brasilia, took the opportunity to register as overseas voters while availing of the Embassy's consular services.
In line with the goal of the Department of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the Commission on Elections, to reach 1,000,000 new registered voters by 2016, the Philippine Embassy in Brasilia will also conduct mobile registration at selected venues throughout the registration period.
On 17 to 18 May 2014, a mobile consular team will go to Florianopolis in southern Brazil to register qualified Filipino citizens in the State of Santa Catarina and nearby states.
Pursuant to Republic Act No. 10590, or The Overseas Voting Act of 2013, the registration period will be from 06 May 2014 until 31 October 2015.
