PH Ambassador hold talks with Suriname Foreign Minister
PARAMARIBO, SURINAME: Enhancing areas of cooperation was the main topic of the meeting of Ambassador Marichu Mauro and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Suriname, Yldiz Pollack-Beighle when they met on 27 July 2018 in the Surinamese capital, Paramaribo.
Ambassador Mauro, who was in Paramaribo to present her credentials to President Desiré Bouterse as Non-Resident Philippine Ambassador to Suriname, was very keen to pursue specific agendas to improve Philippine-Suriname bilateral relations.
During the meeting, both officials agreed to further develop relations between the two countries through identification of specific projects.
Minister Pollack-Beighle noted the presence of Filipino workers in Suriname and expressed how much her government would like to hire more Filipino skilled workers. There are about 500 Filipinos working in Suriname at the moment in the medical, hospitality and other service sectors as well as in the fishing and mining industries.
