PH Congressmen goes on study-visit of Bogotá BRT system
BOGOTÁ, COLOMBIA: The Chairperson of the Transportation Committee of the House of Representatives, Congressman Cesar Sarmiento of Catanduanes, and his Vice-Chairperson, Congressman Edgar Mary Sarmiento of the 1st District of Samar along with Ambassador Marichu Mauro experienced the TransMilenio Bus Rapid Transit System of Bogotá first-hand by taking a ride on the system and visiting various parts of the city like one of its main terminals and bus depots as well as the control centers.

The two Congressmen were on a two-day study visit of the TransMilenio BRT System. Facilitated and organized by the Philippine Embassy in Brazil, the visit occurred over two full days on 23-24 October 2018.
During the visit, the delegation was given an opportunity to visit one of the operators and its bus depot. TransMilenio is simply the city-owned governing body that oversees the seven bus operators running on the network. Consortio Express, the biggest of the seven operators with a fleet of over 2,000 buses runs its bus depot near the main bus terminal. The delegation was given a tour of their facility including operations and their drivers´ training center.
