PH Ambassador and Culture Secretary vow more collaboration

Ambassador Marichu Mauro and the Secretary of Culture of the Federal District of Brazil, H.E. Mr. Adão Candido, vowed further cultural collaboration between the Philippines and Brasilia, the seat of government of the Federal District and capital of Brazil, when the two met on 29 July 2019.

Ambassador Mauro also took the opportunity to formally thank Secretary Candido for allowing the Philippines to screen Jose Javier Reyes’ “Ano ang Kulay ng Nakalimutang Pangarap?” (“What is the Color of a Forgotten Dream?”) on 28 August 2019 at Cinema Brasilia which is owned by the Federal District.

The film screening is in line with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Philippine cinema and a first in the history of Philippines-Brazil cultural relations.

To further strengthen the cultural relations between the Philippines and Brazil, Ambassador Mauro and Secretary Candido talked about the possibility of entering into a partnership that will see the Cultural Secretariat of the Federal District actively promoting the Philippine Embassy’s cultural promotion projects.

As a follow-up project to the film screening, Ambassador Mauro proposed to include Brasilia as one of the stops of Hibla ng Lahing Filipino Traveling Exhibition in 2020.

Secretary Candido was receptive to both ideas and even offered a space to hold the Hibla exhibition next year.
