Ambassador Betita assumes Chairmanship of ASEAN Committee in Brasilia
Philippine Ambassador to Brazil, Eva G. Betita, assumed the Chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Brasilia (ACB) in a hand-over ceremony held on 25 June 2013 at the Official Residence of Malaysian Ambassador Sudha Devi KR Vasudevan, outgoing Chairperson of ACB.
The ACB, which was approved by the ASEAN Secretary General in February 2013, is composed of seven (7) ASEAN Member-States present in Brasilia, namely the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. As the next most senior Ambassador among the ASEAN Heads of Missions, Ambassador Betita takes over the duties of leading and coordinating the projects and activities of the ACB towards further strengthening the ASEAN-Brazil relations.
Present during the occasion were Foreign Ministry officials led by Amb. Franciso Mauro, Head of the East Asia Department, local businessmen and other guests.
